Future Goals & Reflections

I extend sincere thanks to the OECS Advanced Digital Skills Program, in collaboration with the University of the West Indies, for offering this outstanding initiative to young professionals across the Caribbean. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to grow, learn, and contribute meaningfully to our region’s digital transformation.

As I reflect on my journey through the program, I see a garden of growth, where each module became a seed that nurtured my path to success. As a woman in Saint Lucia’s energy sector, a space still largely dominated by men, I feel privileged to have been part of this empowering experience. The practical and mental skills I’ve gained have already begun to shape my contributions in the workplace, opening doors to new possibilities and perspectives.

This program has revealed that there are many avenues beyond what I’ve previously been exposed to. With renewed anticipation, I look forward to the changes unfolding in my sector and across the region, confident that I am better equipped to adapt, lead, and thrive in the digital age.

Throughout the program, I found myself deeply engaged with modules that resonated with both my personal and professional development, especially time management, dealing with stress, and the dynamic role-playing assignments.

 

These sessions not only equipped me with practical strategies to navigate daily challenges but also helped me build resilience and clarity in high-pressure situations. The mentorship sessions were equally transformative, offering a safe space to learn from the diverse perspectives and experiences of my peers across the region.

 

At times, I had to step out of my comfort zone, most notably confronting my fear of public speaking. These moments of discomfort became powerful catalysts for growth, allowing me to build confidence and discover new strengths within myself. Looking back, I am proud of the progress I’ve made and grateful for the supportive environment that encouraged me to stretch beyond my limits.

The group and personal mentorship sessions with Mentor, Ms. Marva Edward-Oculien were truly refreshing, offering a wealth of practical insights and real-life experiences that deeply inspired me. Each interaction provided valuable guidance, encouragement, and perspective, helping me grow both professionally and personally throughout the program.
